Brett Papa's lessons as one path: first acoustic chords, rock rhythm, pentatonic lead, hybrid picking, seven blues jam tunes, shred and tone.

What you will be able to play

  • Tune up and change between E minor, G, A, D, Cadd9 and F in time while counting eighth notes.
  • Play punk, blues-rock and southern rock rhythm parts locked to the drums, with pinch harmonics on heavy riffs.
  • Move through A minor pentatonic positions and land phrases on the root, 3rd and 5th of each chord.
  • Mix major and minor pentatonic in blues licks in A, B, D and E, with bends to the major 3rd.
  • Play hybrid-picked riffs with pick and middle finger, from sixths over A to country transition licks.
  • Solo over seven jam tunes, from a slow B minor blues to rock and roll in B, with turnarounds and double stops.
  • Tap with even timing, use the whammy bar, tremolo pick and sweep minor arpeggios.
  • Set up drive pedals, wah and delay for blues-rock, lead and metal tones.

Is it for you?

For players who want one teacher's whole toolbox in one place. Complete beginners can start at module 1 with an acoustic guitar and no experience. Electric players should already play open chords and power chords and know position one of A minor pentatonic before the lead modules; most of the electric material is intermediate, and the hardest Shred Licks riffs, the sweeps and the blues shred lesson are advanced. Not for players who need every note written down: there is no tab and many riffs are only demonstrated.
